Thank you for visiting Mr. Hanson's page! This year we will be utilizing Google Calendar as our official "Fourth Grade Calendar" that will serve as the student agenda where parents and students will go to find homework assignments, test/study dates, important class announcements, and field trip form due dates. Information will be dispersed to families within the first few weeks of school.
For those who may not know, here in fourth grade at TVCS, Mrs. Bacon and I team teach (not too different from a sixth grade structure). This means that while a student may be in my (or Mrs. Bacon's) homeroom class, he or she will have both teachers every day! Those who are in my homeroom will have Mrs. Bacon for reading and social studies. Those who are in Mrs. Bacon's homeroom will have me for math and science. We both look forward to a productive and successful year!
A bit about myself...I am currently in my sixth year teaching here at TVCS, and I could not be more pleased with how lucky I have been to land in such a great community of staff, students, and parents! I grew up in Murrieta and was part of the first graduating class at Vista Murrieta High School. I received my Master's in Education and Multiple Subject Teaching Credential at UC Riverside. I have taught summer programs including English for Chinese exchange students, and I also currently design and instruct elementary, middle, and high school level enrichment courses in STEAM subjects including electricity, web development, anatomy, and robotics for UC Riverside Extension's summer youth programs. I love to learn, and I also hold a certificate in Web Development from UC Riverside Extension. I recently finished a certification in computer programming, and I am fortunate to soon be done with my preliminary administrative credential program through Riverside County.
When I am not enjoying the company of my students and fellow staff, I love hiking, swimming, going to the gym, reading up on science and relevant world events, continuing my technology learning, and being with good friends. Last but not least, I actively seek anything that will make me laugh. Some other favorite hobbies and past-times, when time permits, include kayaking, cycling, cooking, and trampoline parks. I have an almost obsessive attachment to Thai food and yerba mate tea. I was born without a tibia in my lower left leg, which resulted in an above-the-knee amputation by the time I was a toddler. This has given me a unique perspective on life and perseverance.
Fourth grade is a very BIG leap! Mrs. Bacon and I are preparing students to take initiative and responsibility for their own success while teaching them to effectively use classroom resources, keep supplies highly organized, maintain an organized schedule, and learn to love learning! Your support and encouragement for your student on this journey is greatly appreciated!

Printable Multiplication Flash Cards

Fourth graders are expected to be proficient with their multiplication math facts (up to 12x12). Knowing multiplication facts will be necessary to learn more complicated fourth grade math concepts such as simplifying fractions, long division, multi-digit multiplication, factoring, etc.
Please print out these flash cards (or purchase your own) and practice regularly throughout the summer.
