The Character Trait for November is SAFETY.
TVCS students will be introduced and taught the following social skills this month:
Week 1-2: Following Instructions
Week 3-4: Listening
Parents can practice and/or review these skills with their child at home and in the community. Here are the steps to:
Following Instructions
1) Look at the person.
2) Say "Okay".
3) Do what you've been asked right away.
4) Check back.

Listening
1) Look at the person who is talking and remain quiet.
2) Wait until the person is through talking before you speak.
3) Show that you heard the person by nodding your head, saying "Okay" or "That's interesting", etc.

When your child demonstrates the appropriate social skill for following instructions and listening, he/she is demonstrating safe behaviors. Reward your child with positive praise (i.e. "good job", pat on the back, thumbs-up, etc.) when he/she demonstrates the skill.
