good afternoon thank you all for coming sorry for the delay good afternoon thank you for coming specials on your shoes now is Fisher's coming in a few minutes to kiss year for 2 minutes Laurel happy Friday to everybody happy Friday Friday's Eve Camden welcome back what time is it thanks everybody for coming we'll get started in about a minute or two what is being recorded recorded when it started shortly give everybody a chance to give to your Mississippi shirts 235 started when were trying to connect hey do you want to start with the world of math and social studies today I cannot too much due to share so that's probably a good spot to start math and social studies social studies first of all we're just keeping on keeping on same thing as a reminder every Monday I do post a PDF so principled copy of the kids newspaper for them throughout the week. The best little too small will you bring it up on the computer screen which is why later in the week once I've had a chance to refine it I also post a slideshow for the kids to look at we're hoping to get paper copies of the newspapers I know that the school ordered them I don't know if they've arrived when there I haven't heard yet so hopefully the paper copies of the newspaper coming that's one of the best things about those Studies Weekly program the kids read with me to highlight with me we should know sweetie to the thing we have been able to do that obviously but in the meantime we'll still be there I attached the Articles to the questions every day most of the kids seem to be doing pretty well with that he's doing pretty well another quiz this afternoon I'll break that over the weekend if the fact you hopefully free quick as always if you have any questions or concerns on that please let me know but no real changes there no real changes there we started a new module this week we're in the module 2 so we're starting to do some more advanced work with decimals adding subtracting multiplying and dividing mostly I'll find dividing mostly because I was out yesterday with sugar and thank you for your patience and sorry that I wasn't there for the zoom meetings mrs. laundry is fine with laundry is good but we're a little concerned in the morning that was not the case with the doctor good. That's why I was not there I apologize because I was gone yesterday because mrs. Fisher and I have a staff meeting next Friday we will be at a staff development day next Friday I am not go to have the test for Mass on Friday as I originally stated so if you got a chance to see the newsletter it said there was a math test on October 9th that is not true anymore I need to look at my calendar and find the best but it will not be tonight it will not be tonight if something changes and we have to do over the weekend like before I'll let you know but I'd really rather do it during class time so it will probably be the following week teacher conferences starting on the 12th so that'll be fun we'll be sending information about parent-teacher conferences out probably Fisher probably about the middle in it somewhere in there we're still finalizing details on that but parent-teacher conferences are scheduled for the week of October 12th so sorry just leaving from the mass while I'm thinking about it the math I'm still asking the kids to login into fours are in lessons in a week I've got about half the class it's already done and that's just my last check was probably even more now most of them are pretty comfortable spent on Monday I was go to give them half the class to login to Luzerne lesson make sure they feel comfortable with how that works just again if they can get for done Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday we're about 60% of the class is done so they're doing great on that still can't find an easy way to track how many lessons they need to do I'm sorry as far as for each particular student what I'm talking about with the kids and I'll remind them on Monday first time I log into Zurn on Monday see what lesson they last finished and then add four to that and that's their target for the week so I've got two students who just finished mission 2 lesson 3 are gold or Target would be the sentence lesson 7 and the think about it that way in the hope that that makes it easier for them still plugging away on XtraMath again most the kids doing really well on that logging in every day I still have two or three students who aren't if your students having trouble if you're staying with the homework rate is a little low to chance that's why let me know let me know if I can help I'm talk to the other teachers about possibly raising XtraMath out and looking at something else but I don't have any details on that right now I'm iloka to see you I think those are my big talking point does anyone have any questions on math social studies nothing really exciting this week as always if anything comes up have any concerns please email me let me know we were able to get some work done on Google classroom and figure out what I was missing on getting information if I leave a comment if it's officially zonnic for your students thanks at 6 so now hopefully you should be getting emails when we leave comments for your student if you're not seeing those double check with your student maybe they're not getting a lot of comments but there might be an issue with your email not being attached letter there's still some bugs to work out of it apparently and I'll look to the southbound just in case the kids might not be getting the emails like they're supposed to but the adults should be now so let us know if you having trouble with that yeah I know Milo didn't get that when we tested that 1-mile did not get that and I didn't get get it but I did get a notification on my phone so we can test it again later just see if I can get the email that sounds good okay so thank you so it's coming through just on the app not on the email yes thank you and thank love you for your patience while I did a little trouble on that I think we got it thank you anybody has any questions on that let us know yeah hopefully it'll behave a little better especially sounds like if you have the phone app on the phone app all right I'm going to zip it must have been has ended questions and turn it over to mrs. Fisher set a reminder that what Mr laundry was talking about the projected date for the math test it's the same probably for any test that will never move a chest up if we announce it at estle Beyonce in October 9th something happens the kids maybe aren't quite ready to take the test whatever hiccup happen will never bring a test for words that being said we were going to take our point of view which has today however yesterday the kids were working so hard they were they committed to being responsible and independent while Mr laundry was gone encourage them if they finish their math or social studies their news Ela that this morning in ela we would take a look grammar Bingo as a review instead of taking a test and I think that's probably more important right now than anything is to be able to have the flexibility luckily and Ela is nothing that they study for that if I delay is going to check anything I think we needed a time to come together today as a class and have some fun so that's what we did this morning we'll take our point of view test next week will probably discuss it a little bit they've been working so hard I anticipate that all of them are ready for it but today we we took a break from it and played grammar review Bingo which was a lot of fun again a few hiccups because we did it on the computer so I can as much as we try to put them in stone will never be moved up that they may be extended parent teacher conferences we will I believe most teachers do the same form at Freddy's and we'll send up a sign up send out a sign up what's the time it will be in such will have to get back to you on but we anticipate them starting after lunch the way the calendar is set up will most likely still be doing that the morning work with students resume and start meeting with parents after lunch and that will be over soon so you can experience also the joys of of zooms hopefully they all work well for it I want to remind you of the to do list I've gotten great feedback from the students who might have enjoyed showing me really proud of their to-do list if they have they printed them out and it's really increase Organization for some Icy much much higher percentage of kids getting all of their work done consistently with those to do list the good news is that and they say it's a pointed it out and I had a feeling some would if the same expectation everyday the idea is that it's a routine for them what they need to do for their subject however writing it down is still that really important practice to write down what they need to do but it's check marks by it even though it's a similar routine day today that means that as a reminder we do Dunya news Ela four days a week if Monday through Thursday that means my home Ram has Performing Arts on fire the last few weeks mr. Rogers class has joined us so I don't do any news Ela on Fridays so Monday through Thursday is the new CLA and 3 days a week Monday Wednesday Friday we do our sign exit ticket with all that being said and as proud I am at the kids for working through this incompletion we've worked really hard on paragraph structure their writing has already come so far really really enjoying it next week will be our last week working with nonfiction so our routine will change because we won't we will end news Ela that that's all nonfiction text after next week and we'll move in to fix so I think the kids have done fantastic but it's time we we changed yours and I won't overload anybody with what that looks like I'll spend probably at least two days going through the website that were using with the kids do you know workout any connectivity issues and bugs and build some confidence and make sure they're comfortable and using it so news Ela again one more we continue we're going to continue working on have you in our writing component of it and they're doing great I think that I've seen you know it's it's a minimum of seven sentences we always talk about the quality and what that means and I have short novels from these kids and I am enjoying them and probably one of the things I miss very most about instruction is teaching writing so I'm really looking forward to continue but we'll be doing it based off fiction writing instead of non-fiction writing so proud of them are all getting in the groove of our routine just in time for it to change next week all right I want to make sure I spend most of my time answering questions about Ela about science about the love we all have four Zoom in the internet life the universe and everything how about a things that I wanted to feel free if you're not ready to ask you a question yet I'll open it up for questions again as a reminder that your lunch and I both remind students several times throughout the class it to turn the cameras on I know that some of them will email me in the chair the camera's not working that day and to me that made me that there cameras not working that day and made me and you know I had a card morning I need my camera off but if it's a pattern you know where we're really encouraging them to do and it's it's mostly because it's difficult to see their level of Engagement if I don't see their camera you know when we're doing science notes or sometimes I'll have them show me what they've done and it is difficult for them to do that if their camera turn on so please please encourage your kids that unless there's extenuating circumstances that having their camera on is really makes a difference I got to meet pets today it was fun but the real reason why it's amazing when I asked about 1 students pet all the sudden cameras came on and they all wanted to show me their pets so we spent a few minutes doing it as obsessed I am with animals and passed the real reason was I wanted every sin cameras to stay on and it seemed to work I'm at snakes and guinea pigs and cats and dogs today and it was really actually fun we fell a little behind because I easily sidetracked by all your family members but please ask your students you note it to keep their cameras on it's fun to see them anyway hungry when I say a joke and it's a blank screen I'm not sure if I'm not funny or they're laughing at me behind a closed camera it's easier for me I say we did do a riddle of the day hilarious but I like to see the eye rolls as well as the laugh so they're coming up with some doozies themselves thanks for doing that I think that doing those kind of things Even If She Falls little bit behind is no-bake connection to happen we are missing with distance learning so I think that's really need that you did that thank you I really enjoy it your kids are so fun and you know we talked about the silver finding some right now that's a silver lining if we were in school I wouldn't get to see your cute pets and you know so I'll take that as a as a plus right now we're also trying to be a little more relaxed on Google Classroom as far as how the kids are leaving comments on different assignments we understand they need to be able to talk to each other and share this about their lives is there anything else that we can do for any of you and have a question concerns thank you for taking your time on Friday afternoon to check in with us make a note thank you you're welcome to log off you're welcome to stay on if you have specific a personal question for mr. laundry and I are happy to stay on ahead and stop the recording for now we are all set have a great weekend everybody thank you thank you
