good afternoon thank you for coming today super still connected afternoon thanks for being here today everybody good afternoon thanks for waiting will give everybody just another minute or so to get here you're here so I'm assuming the answer is yes those messages coming through edlio and Gage okay are you getting those emails okay thank you again that's how we sent it so if you're here that's good news just making sure can get started in just a moment won't be able to keep your chew long today got a meeting at 3 so will try to be brief hopefully the students weren't too upset that I canceled their social studies test today now for some wasn't looking forward to it really disappointed somehow I didn't think so how do you say mrs. fisher maybe wait one more minute and then we'll get started those are needed that are here thank you for joining us and I'm in the car at the moment so I apologize if I break in and out mr. laundry let me know if if I do start breaking out but for those that I just wanted to share this seems really excited this Thursday I'm going to do a directed drawing lessons during lunch I'm hoping I'm I'm so enjoying as I hope the kids are in the morning for we get together we're sharing our riddles were sharing our stories and and I don't ever want to cut that I'm sure I think it's so important just to get us all connected and you know talking together so I thought maybe including some lunch time activities I know that I love to draw on my colored pencils are calling my name so I found fun Halloween directed draw lesson so I explained to the kids that Thursday during lunch they can bring their lunch to zoom bring a blank piece of paper colored pencils and we're going to have some fun drawing for 45 minutes or so call Alex Riley mind about him and that information should hopefully have come through at Leo engaged but I will make sure I add it into our Monday newsletter as well alright it's thank you this is for sure it's 2:35 so we'll go ahead and get started and this is being recorded I'll post it on the website know if you want me to check back in later big news obviously is thank you for being patient all this back and forth on are we going to be back in person or we not busy back in person it's in very frustrating I know for administration and Arthur for everybody so thank you we don't really know any more than the rest of you as teachers were getting most of the same emails so again thank you for being patient I know it's pain as teachers we are going to be going back on campus next week is to start getting classrooms ready continue getting classes ready as part of that mrs. Fisher and I are going to try where are transition schedule again this week to just have our morning meetings and I think that was easier on some families cuz afternoons are bad but unfortunately we just didn't have time to do everything we need to do so we're going to go back next week to the morning masses and then the kids will meet in the afternoon from 12:30 to 1:30 for social studies and science the big difference is we're going to take Monday and turn Monday into a purely asynchronous day so basically the kids will meet with us in the morning at 8:30 like they normally do for their homeroom but don't just be meeting with us for about a half an hour so we can take attendance let them know what's going on for the week here about their weekend Fisher said check in and going to have that morning time but then the rest of the day we'll all be independent so they don't have to stare at Zoo for the mass they can work on Zurn and get two or three lessons knocked out for the week so then I have to worry about it they'll have work for language arts and things like that mrs. fisher am I forgetting anything I think that's exactly the goal is that in the morning we have our check-in time to explain any upcoming events have it be you know it's a time for them to share about their weekend and explain the asynchronous goals that while it may seem that they're going to have even more flexibility I think that so many of the students in talking with them and in talking with parents at parent-teacher conferences so routine of when they're doing their independent worker has become so beneficial and whether that is the time that we carved out and suggested from 11 to 11:45 and then again from 1:30 to 2:45 whether that's what you've been planted in your home or its berries just a little bit depending on parents get home I think that that will be crucial if I'm keeping a schedule even though Monday will seem like there's more flexibility I think they're going to be most successful in continuing West Avery 10 what works best for your family but a routine as to when they're taking their work but increased and work completion has been phenomenal I think we're just in such a fantastic group right now I'm as much as we don't want to interrupt that with a changing schedule it will be what our schedule will look most like when we do go back to school as well will do for eighth grade will continue with asynchronous Monday so hopefully it'll be a good time to establish the routines and expectations and Mitchell Andre and I will absolutely be available during office hours at entire day so if you have questions about assignments need to check in it can be used for small group instruction so if there's a specific skill that students are having a hard time on you know where available to schedule small groups for helping the transition leads us into a Google change leads us into a smooth transition when we get to go back in motion we don't have all the information all the standard disclaimer for is exactly when we're back face-to-face that we will have that Monday is asynchronous for everyone whether you're working from home or the students decide to come back to class we're hoping working coordinating with Administration will not sure but we're hoping that spam you should choose to stay home or feel is best for the family to stay home will still be able to reach them via zoom in the mornings while we're teaching in person class wolfine but that's the for hoping for working on so I miss Pierce I'm sorry you've had your hand up for a moment you realize that he's going to be staying home if you guys would still be his teacher because of the email that was sent out I think it said it was a possibility that you you both or one of you wouldn't be his teacher anymore so I just wanted to know if you knew that and again I am sorry I keep making all these like whining excuses today I wish I was in a position to promise more it's we're also trying to figure it out but I know that when we spoke with him operation earlier in the week they phrase the emails that way because they wanted to make sure that they were being respectful of teachers in the contracts to make sure that we were not being held over extended I think I speak for mrs. Fisher I say that both of us have really enjoyed getting to know this group and we want to keep working with the screen I am not eager to trade them to somebody else I want to keep working with this group so weird trying to make sure that again with the issue Chris Monday so that they can check in with us have their material during the week like on a normal Tuesday some of the kids will be coming to class they'll probably be mixed between me and mrs. Fisher but they'll still talk to both of us when I am teaching a math lesson on a Tuesday morning to students or physically in front of me my goal my plan my hope is to be broadcasting that same lesson via Zoom have the kids who are at home or participating via Zoom we're going to find out that's what the next couple of weeks are going to be well worth waiting to hear from the county will be at school trying to hammer out the details. lithosphere said I will address it also in that the verbiage that we sent to Administration both at least I can only speak for a 5th Grader is provided them the details that were hoping to implement and utilize so that we both are able to continue to all of our students absolutely there's you you would probably have to pry them out of our hands so it is Our intention and our hope that we it is a truth I would say that we're able to teach students to remain home virtually as well as didn't you come back with the hybrid model so if that puts your mind at rest it is both of our intention and desire to continue to work with all students thank you hopefully that helps they can't get away that easily all right all right either announcement I am to start a novel study with students we finished up working on and with us not returning to school I am not having that being put off I think the kids are meeting and ready to have that higher level of Engagement with a with a really fantastic novel so I'm going to send out an email this weekend that announces the date for material pick up it's going to look a little bit different the last time I got approval from dr. Murphy we're going to do our material pick up at the park I'll have to give you the details because we do need to address social distancing and not but I'm hoping to be able to do that in at different times so that then I can even read the beginning 2 chapters it's like I can't I can't let go of wanting to introduce I feel like I have one chance at as really hooking them in this novel and increasing their love of reading and I'm confident that this is a book do it well and there's activities and so it's most likely there's going to be several sessions so we can make sure that were I'm addressing all social distancing protocol an olive that if again you're not people doing that I will record myself reading these first two chapters and sharing that with with everybody and you're welcome to pick up materials from the office or whatever works best for you just trying to be as creative engaging is possible but not putting off starting this really cool novel study VeggieTales by Sunday night on that which kind of probably ways into my more mundane announcements even with a synchronous next week I'm hoping to be still in the same schedule for Math and social studies I am planning to give them a test next Friday this the week the week 9 newspaper we're old and new meat for just remember that we're finished we'll start this week and test on Friday students will also have a math test one week from today so they'll have a math test one week from today going to be on the division that we've been practicing we're going to keep practicing and as I did last time I'll make sure that they have access to the study guide by Wednesday at the latest so Wednesday at the latest plan right now is I'll put it up on Google Classroom on Wednesday so that they can print it will go through it on Thursday we'll do half of it together and then whatever is left and they can work on 4 extra practice to prepare for the test not that changes by Wednesday at the latest it'll be there Wednesday at the very latest changes I'll put it up earlier I got a big news for science mrs. Fisher or pretty normal there next week yes I dare say that everything is planned or we're hoping for a normal week of science yes we will keep our fingers crossed I think those are the big things that we share today again that changed the schedule for next week Monday will be asynchronous the kids the only need for about a half an hour what kind of explain to them what's going on and they have the rest of the day to work as mrs. Fisher said according to whatever schedule hopefully your family already has that means they work during our regular Zoom times and make a knock their stuff out and have the rest of the day but that's what we're looking at will do that on Monday and then Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday regular classes in the morning social studies and Science in the afternoon for 12:30 to 1:30 I'm all special be the saying that doesn't Monday doesn't affect that either so that should be the same thank you again for being here thank you for being patient through the irregularity of the last couple of weeks and all these announcements of retractions and such will keep you posted if anything changes but thank you have a great weekend let us know if you need anything from us thank you thank you everyone have a great weekend
