good afternoon thanks for coming today no problem I will keep this one pretty fast I think we don't have a ton that's new to share stream us a couple want to make sure we are staying on track questions to start with what's going on okay hopefully everyone had a chance to if not actually join the meeting yesterday but I know there was a presentation for parents about our reopening plan unable to catch that or going see the video afterwards what's the date you know what I'm checking now it was not as of earlier looks like we is now so let me go ahead and out and stands to everyone this is the school website where the slide show the video the frequently asked questions are at so if you click on that and I'll go ahead and I'll send that I'll send that out in a moment as well but just while I'm thinking about it again I was just barge straight ahead so please stop me from you doesn't questions or math and social studies this week we had a test today some of the students did really well some of the students or challenge by we're going to talk more about it next week but grades should be going into illuminate probably I'm going to try to get them done today but if not today probably tomorrow some of them are in Google Classroom already I'll send out my regular email if anyone didn't get a chance to finish this to check in with with students and their parents for next week the big one that I am going to share and I haven't told the kids yet you can tell him if you want otherwise I'll tell him on Monday next week for math zern going to be optional Zurn is going to be extra credit it's students are still struggling with it we are this is the end of week 12 and it's still not making a lot of sense to students I'm trouble monitoring it we're probably going to move on to something else but they've been doing it this long it will be extra credit next week if they want to do the four lessons fantastic if they're over it also fine I'm going to be looking Freckle Freckle seems to be a little bit easier for me to monitor I'm hoping it'll be easier for the kids to keep track of where they're at I still don't know about parents integration I don't know about how it would alert parents so I'm still going to my week butt Freckle works or mass it might even had it has a social studies component I'm not sure if our school has access to it it's on my list but for math for probably going to start doing that we get back from Thanksgiving break so there will be optional next week they'll still be doing XtraMath every day they still have video notes everyday except for Friday which I'll let Miss Fisher talk about Friday since that's more her wheelhouse if that's the big thing had some any questions in math or social studies how much business as usual thanks for yelling science will start with the big thing is we introduced a project today the kids did blew me away by fantastic with their project they did for science my my true hope and goal without was they were able to show me their understanding and be engaged in an at-home project that showed me the level of learning that you know would be similar to the level of what we would be doing in class absolutely did these posters at the writing it is phenomenal and their connections if they made their illustrations what they were able to do their presentations were phenomenal they were speaking from understanding the subject and not having to rely on what they read it was really wonderful so and absolutely showed me that a great way to to approach science during this time is through continued project I left project anyway I think that you know seems to be in both classes across the board instead of fair approach they were excited about it which to me is half of it right now anyway so we introduced a new project today the kids will be starting I promise that miss Lynn and I often remind them that they're not to go to my mom and dad and said we have to go shopping at that either items that can be found around the house that they can reuse you know if and if there's any purchasing needed than the 90 send text or is often a great place to go but it would be a need or a want not a need so the new project we introduced today we even have the kids right outside and grab an example of something from the geosphere in about the four different spheres they seemed excited about it and I can I'm I'm impressed with the level that they put into their first project for ELA work study going a little bit lower than I had hoped but again I've never done a novel study virtually and checking understanding is different than when were sitting in the classroom all working on it together I have fallen behind on grading this week I apologize I had my son graduated EMT school and he had his 20th birthday it was just it was one of those rare everything was a positive kind of weak and so we embraced that and I took advantage of some extra family time so I apologize that I have fallen behind and Grading I will catch up this weekend so grades will be updated and illuminate shortly aside from that yes nothing new that I can think of but I'm certainly happy to answer any questions everybody's quiet it was either that everybody's tired or just excited for it to be over to start the weekends I actually have a question I'm is there a science exit ticket today my kids kept checking and nothing's been posted yet I had again I've been scheduling back-to-back-to-back Zoom various reasons and that also has prevented me from posting things on time I explained to them it doesn't even need to be in writing today and I'll remind on Google classroom just wanted them to start thinking about what kinds of items they could use to represent different beers in our new project so we went over it today mistlin carefully showed us her example which was phenomenal and so I won't be assigning a grade today of what they are going to use for that but I will encourage them and remind them to start thinking about the different items that they can give me everything from Dixie Cups painted to sticking out of a clay Cactus and that might sound crazy to you but these are all things we we showed him in class today so I want them just thinking about what they're going to be doing this I'll give them two weeks which include that week during Thanksgiving break they seemed to really enjoy getting crafty and I'm absolutely 100% okay with this being a family project some of them have siblings helping if parents want to get I wouldn't be opposed to you sprinkling some glitter on their projects and helping them with the fun parts for sure as long as you have the knowledge is coming from them so I hope that picture question I am not going to hold them accountable for a exit ticket with a point value today we were busy with projects and presentations and I'm certainly satisfied with that effort we will start again exit tickets next week Monday Wednesday Friday so three days of them and I will be mindful that it's the week before Thanksgiving break they have a lot of interesting things to cover however I know that family our families are moving towards Thanksgiving break mentality and such on that same note real quick we can also address it next Friday those first two days we posted in the newsletter of Thanksgiving break were added to the calendar school year started late because of that then wave and it's been explained to us that are asynchronous days we're not going to have the kids work well you know what we're sitting at the computer without communication with M on a zoom so I think I can speak for mr. laundry as well that it won't be extremely heavy academics I don't have plans on test that day and that kind of thing I noticed I have a couple things I will came up with that I want to talk with you about before we share with everybody but exactly know nothing that's going to be taxing it's we understand families have plans the administration understand so we'll we'll keep it light and will give it to you early enough that students can do it before or after if they need to before during or after sorry while I'm interrupting you anyway sorry just to clear you had mentioned science exit tickets Monday Wednesday Friday does that include the Friday where we have our special activity good question I already have one plans but it is a reflection turn on an engineering project so yes but it's an easy one but I'm trying to keep those science Minds busy thank you mrs. Fisher sorry to interrupt but I don't have a drive-through next Friday 11:10 to 11:45 it's a day that were scheduled to be finished at 11:45 so we will normally it's an early dismissal day so we figured we would do 11 to 11:45 for families Andino on into the parking lot and do the steam activity and Iceland and I have some optional supplies to get the kids one of them is for the science project if they're going to be working on if they're in need of a shoebox we have extras of those I will make sure that information goes out to families as well as doing one too and I can't I thought they were both on the same day and now I don't remember so I mean either way it works for me cuz I have to be there anyway so I know you would said you were busy did you grade the science project yet or is that coming will be graded after the presentation because there's points a sign for the presentation like so if it shows missing it's not because it's missing its just because they haven't done their presentation yet we're almost halfway through with most students so we'll continue kind of a instruction and projects as well okay so once they're done. they're welcome to bring them to me next Friday some of them are so excited and I am more than happy to put them up in my classroom 25% of the grade was their solemn promise that they would keep it forever Hollister River maybe I'm picking something up thank you yeah good questions I actually am one more question sorry after the meeting last night at the zoo meeting from the school I have and I don't even know if you know quite yet but how is it and I haven't made my final decision I was like oh my kids will go back Madison and Evan and now I'm like well maybe I'll keep them home I didn't understand that like if we do keep him home that they are going in at 8 a.m. class how is that going to work for like interaction with you guys and I don't even know if you know this yet but it sounded like they were going to zoom in if they have questions or they putting it in a chat in your checking that I know you're also teaching students in class and you know going to work at all that whole setup I've been very bossy with mrs. Fisher we still need to talk and figure out exactly what it looks like but what I would like to do and again mrs. Fisher please interrupt me if I'm being too pushy the way I Envision it is when the kids are back here physically in the classroom they're still going to be working primarily on electronics devices because passing papers around passing supplies around is not necessarily a safe so if I have students in my classroom that are working on devices anyway and I have students at home or working on devices and if I'm trying to teach them at the same time ideally what I would like to do is just very similar to what we do now there will be a math session from a certain time to certain time and weather the kids are physically here or at home they will be in the same Zoom session together that way if I put them in the breakout rooms there maybe kids at home we're talking to kids again as you said we don't really know we're putting these things together and discussing with Administration they want to make sure that this is we're doing the best we can on this but obviously that means possibly changing sketch Kohl's right now if your students are in math from 8:30 to 9:30 there's a chance that may move 81029 it may mess up schedules at home I would like to do as much as possible. Keep the routine pretty much the same as it is now if some of the students are physically here then that's great I'll be able to see them and interact with them but I still want the kids at home to be getting at least this International getting now I don't want it to go down mrs. Fisher do you have anything to add on that like I said I mean fairly clear and what we're wanting to a comp the how and the schedule is not pin down yet but again you know unfortunately even students that are back in class as excited as we are to see them we don't have the option to put them in small groups to work to do a novel study it's not bring to look I don't believe that can you decide how to say this our students at home are going to receive the same level of Education from us as students that are here. absolutely 100% from our teacher Hearts the goal you know we're going to probably learn new ways to ensure interaction between the kids that are both at home and both have school DND idea the message that we've been given and that we perceived is that students at Hallmark going to look on to a zoom meeting and see the kids at school working together doing some fun activity that they're not part of you know we have every plan on ensuring l'education everybody it'll look a little bit different for students are here but you know I could turn my classroom my camera around and show you that my desks are already set up six feet apart you know they're spread apart we're not done working in our from Little you know small groups like we used to be able to anyway so I know it's not definitive answers but I hope that help just a little bit no. They said definitely we haven't made a final decision yet I just I'm very on the fence of either way and so I I know that's a lot to ask for you guys I appreciate you you know being able to teach the kids in the class and also the ones online and it was very difficult so yeah I just at first didn't know he was a teacher but then when they were talking last night so I had to do with the kids I think it's hard because my kids are like them it's not going to be normal like you thought it was and I'm trying to see where everybody could have got in the situation and then my other question is if they do go to school you guys will just kind of be rotating likes up there in the a.m. or the p.m. during that time you'll just be rotating around like the teacher or how's it going to work like mouth like an hour and then mr. laundry and then mr. you come in and do Ela is that how that works there and that's one of those scenarios we have three scenarios that we have kind of come laugh and looked at and 4/5 and 6 are in the same boat and that they have two teachers you know teaching all subjects so 7th and 8th grade different in certain below look different so last spring we've kind of put ourselves in a in a unique Department with fourth and sixth grade to try to come up with some of these plans and make them cohesive and you know we've we certainly invested a lot of time what is scenarios and as soon as we think we have a great idea plan and ready to go either we found out students were coming back we thought they were and we come up with something different or get out so I would say we have three scenarios on the I can tell you that that we've been told that once regardless when students come back they won't be changing classroom and it wouldn't be practical for Mr laundry and I just switch classroom either to do what it is we're doing it it wouldn't just make a whole lot of sense to take us out of our element and where we have all of our stuff so to speak I have to stay where on my post bar is difficult I know better than to play with him anyway I promise and I don't share my my Flair pens but words and and those kinds of things that we do have in the so us leaving our classroom just wouldn't make a whole lot of sense so we're playing with three different scenarios on how to ensure you no equal opportunity I guess for for all kids so it's kind of boring you with are three potential plans that the six of us have worked on will wait until we try to find to an it before we do but wanting to give it to you in time to be able for you to be able to make a decision as well thank you sorry I know that was kind of like a lot and I know you're in a tough so you don't really know what's happening really nobody does so we wish we had more concrete information to give everybody so thank you for being patient with us as we try to figure it out I don't think I'm very good question sorry we don't have a little more for you when we do we'll try to show does anyone have any other questions and other concerns and unless we can help you with today Miss Fisher are they doing daily grams every I'm still so can you tell me what question you know the short answer is if they're not doing it right now it's okay we have I don't have a way of not checking them everyday so because of that I'm doing my best to integrate those grammar skills in our novel study at the same at the same time I'm and essentially to fit writing grammar and reading into RR 1 hour time frame and quickly realizing that it's next to impossible to do that equality each and every day so during our daily grams right now I'm enjoying our novel study right now the best way I'm deciding to integrate those this past week is to address it with our novel and not have it be something separate what I like him to do that every day absolutely but for them to do it without me checking doesn't really provide it's not helpful if they're not give feedback and what they're doing is correct well I guess my answer is if I don't have the time to go over it with him to ensure that they're practicing things correctly I'd rather them not do it if I don't have the time to Dedicated as well so thank you for bringing in a pie if I have didn't you still get ahold of Zoom about it they still ask questions about it I'm just trying to find that balance of how to fit something separate into what's already packed our right now they should Beyond when we officially left off when I quit I quit sharing it in class and Grading it was about page 21 but you know much beyond that I've I've had to allow a little bit of Grace be honest that I I don't have the time to follow up to correct it thank you yeah I wish set a half an hour to the day but I don't think I'd be real popular they will come back that will be a importance when we come when we finish up this novel study I'm sorry I turned blurry if I sit in my classroom on Space my lights turn off in two all right again thanks for
