ROAR
Rock On Achievement Results (ROAR) is Temecula Valley Charter School’s in-house literacy intervention program for students in Kindergarten through 5th Grade. Designed to help students master California English Language Arts (ELA) grade-level standards, ROAR provides high-quality, targeted instruction in reading decoding, fluency, and comprehension.
Evidence-Based Instruction
Using the Science of Reading approach, ROAR delivers explicit, systematic instruction in foundational reading skills. Our trained intervention staff use research-backed strategies to support growth in:
- Phonemic Awareness
- Phonics
- Fluency
- Vocabulary
- Comprehension
Personalized Support
Students are referred to ROAR by their classroom teachers and identified using a range of reading assessments. The ROAR Coordinator and team then customize small-group interventions based on individual needs.
Assessment & Progress Monitoring
We use a comprehensive set of tools to identify student needs and track progress:
- San Diego Quick Assessment
- Fluency Checks
- Fountas & Pinnell Benchmarking
- Formal and Informal Classroom Assessments
- Interim Assessments
- CAASPP Performance Data
Progress is communicated regularly to families through detailed reports shared throughout the school year.
More Than Intervention—A Launchpad for Literacy Success
By building confidence and foundational reading skills, ROAR ensures that students are equipped to thrive in the classroom and beyond. At TVCS, we believe literacy is the key to lifelong learning—so we help every student Read On and Rock On!
