Who can attend TVCS?
TVCS is a tuition-free public charter school open to all TK–8 students who reside in California.
Why is there an application process if TVCS is a public school?
As a charter school, families must complete an application to request enrollment.
How are students admitted to TVCS?
If there are more applicants than open seats, a lottery is held. If a grade is full, the lottery creates a waitlist.
How old does my child need to be for TK or Kindergarten?
For the 2025–26 school year:
- TK: Birthdate between 9/2/2020 and 9/1/2021
- Kindergarten: Birthdate between 9/2/2019 and 9/1/2020
When is the enrollment lottery?
The 2025–26 lottery will be held on February 28th, 2026.
Do siblings get priority in the lottery?
Yes. Siblings of currently enrolled students receive enrollment preference if space is available.
What is the average class size?
- TK: 20 students
- Kindergarten: 24 students
- 1st–3rd Grade: 26 students
- 4th–8th Grade: 30 students
Is TK full-day?
No. TK operates as a half-day program (AM/PM). Kindergarten is full-day.
Does TVCS provide transportation?
No, transportation is not provided.
Is there an after-school program?
TVCS does not offer traditional after-school care. TVCS does offer enrichment classes and academic tutoring opportunities throughout the year. Enrichment opportunities vary by year. Previous classes include Photography, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, Culinary Arts, Sign Language and more!
What enrichment programs does TVCS offer?
All students participate in weekly “specials” classes, including: Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Science Lab (bi-weekly in some grades), Spanish, Instrumental Music, and Physical Education.
TVCS also emphasizes social-emotional learning and values parent involvement in events, field trips, classroom support, and more.
Is TVCS enrolling for 2025–26?
Yes. We are currently accepting applications for our waitlist.
Which grade levels have openings?

Does submitting an enrollment form guarantee admission?
No. Applications submitted during the open enrollment window are entered into the lottery. After that, students are placed on a waitlist or admitted as space allows.
Do I need to fill out a form for each of my children?
Yes. A separate application is required for each child.
Do current students need to reapply?
No. Current families will receive an “Intent to Return” form through Aeries.
What happens if I miss the Intent to Return deadline?
Your child may be placed on the waitlist. We cannot guarantee re-enrollment without a completed form.
Are students admitted based on grades or test scores?
No. TVCS accepts all California students and does not consider academic history.
Is there a cost to attend?
No. TVCS is a free public charter school.
When is registration paperwork due?
Online registration opens in July and must be completed annually via Aeries.
